Windham Hill U.C.C. enjoys a comfortable blend of traditional, innovative, regular, and special services that reflect the personalities of the congregation.
Sunday morning Worship Services and Church School are both held at 9:30 AM. The children are included in a portion of the service. Most weeks, children attend the beginning of the service and leave after the Children’s Moment. On Communion Sunday, they attend the last of the service so they can participate in the Sacrament. Other Sundays have Intergenerational Services where the children attend for the entire service. Nursery services are always available for the very young children.
In addition, Windham Hill U.C.C. has active Youth Fellowship programs for both Junior and Senior High students.
Different seasons of the year are celebrated with special services.
Advent and Lent find mid-week Vesper Services; February emphasizes Black History Month with the Choir sharing appropriate music; Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday have special observances; summer often has an informal, outdoor worship or two; fall is welcomed with festive Homecoming and Rally Day services; and Advent is enhanced with the weekly presentation of creche figures by members of the congregation.
Windham Hill U.C.C. has always been an active participant in area Ecumenical services as well as programs with other U.C.C. churches in the area.
Several Worship Services have been dedicated to specific themes. There has been an “Arts” Sunday when both the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall were filled with examples of the talents of members; there was a Musical Sunday when much of the service was done musically by talented members; and, on other occasions, older members of the congregation were honored for their dedication and service.
The happy blend of ages, lifestyles, and interests among the members, guarantees that the varied worship offerings will continue to enhance the spiritual experience for everyone.
